Atlantis was intelligent, but she wasn't creative. Two plus two was always four, never blue or apple or 'five for very large values of two', although she thought she understood the joke. It was the only limit to her power, beyond the ZPMs, and she had tried for centuries to find a way to code those jumps of illogic. But two plus two was four, no matter how hard she tried.
She wasn't creative, but she didn't need to be, that's what her Avatar was for. Rodney was the spark, she was the fuel, and they'd set the stars ablaze.
