Story Notes:
Response to the ""Trio" Would you Rather?" challenge proposed by MeredithKey.

"Okay...Will Smith or Tom Cruise?" Jennifer Keller, said, wiping her hands on the end of her shirt. They had been knotting rope for what seemed like an hour, and her hands were red and sweaty. At least there was something to pass the time.

"Will Smith. Come on, no competition." Sam Carter said in an instant. "How about you McKay?"

"You know, we could really use some women in this game." Rodney started. "I mean, come on. I've answered all your questions comparing guys. So how about...Kate Hudson or Sandra Bullock?"

"I'm not answering that," Jennifer said, shaking her head, finishing off what seemed to be the thousandth knot she'd tied.

"Yeah, me either," Sam agreed.

"Come on!" Rodney complained. I mean, what, they expected him to answer which of a bunch of guys he would rather "do" and they wouldn't even answer one? "Well...fine then," he said, struggling for some sort of snarky comment to throw back. There was a silence as Sam and Jennifer continued to knot the rope. They still had so much rope to go...

Rodney broke the silence. "Fine then," he repeated, quietly. "I'll use someone of the opposite sex, if you have to be so stubborn."

Sam almost snorted with laughter. "You wanna talk to me about stubborn, McKay?"

"Shut up. Okay, Jennifer, this one's for you...Ronon or Sheppard?" he smirked with victory. Upon hearing this one, she'd have to answer his previous question instead.

"Ron-" half the name slipped out before she could stop it. "Rodney! We can't do that!" she said, mouth hanging open. "That's just..."

"Unprofessional?" Sam offered.

"Yeah, okay. Sure." Jennifer said quickly, hints of blushing on her cheeks.

"No, no, no, no, no, no. You already answered." Rodney smirked again. His original plan was just for her to answer Kate vs. Sandra...but this was much more fun.

"Did not! No see...I...he..." she threw her hands up in the air. "Fine! Ronon! Happy?" she blushed intensely.

"Jennifer and Ronon sitting in a tree..." Rodney sang just loudly enough for Jennifer to hear.

"Stop it!" She had to find a way to stop blushing... "Fine, Rodney," she emphasized his name.

"Uh-oh," he muttered. Now he started something...

"Sam or Teyla?" She continued. Now it was her turn for revenge.

"Hey! Don't drag me into this." Sam said. She paused. "Teyla either." she added. Both she and Jennifer had stopped knotting the rope now, their full attention on this new little game.

"Oh, come on. Like you don't know he's gonna pick you anyway," she giggled.

Sam rolled her eyes and prepped herself to hear Rodney's response.

"Uh, well, see, it's a hard question. I mean," he gave one of his little nervous laughs. "Well, Teyla is a really...um...beautiful woman and uh," he looked over to Sam. "I mean, you are too! And you're really, um, intelligent, and I mean, um, I mean...I couldn't choose. You're both totally, well, hot, and uh..." he stopped himself, trying to control his endless stream of words. "Umm..." he paused, his voice dropping in volume. "Carter?"

"Oh, Carter huh?" Jennifer looked at him and then at Sam suggestively.

Rodney nodded.

"Ha! I knew it," she did a little victory dance around the table. "Sam and Rodney sitting in a tree..." She always knew they'd make a good couple.

"Hey. I resent that." Sam said indignantly.

"Okay, well then...Sam...if you really mean that," she paused. She had to make this a good one. "Rodney or Sheppard?"

Sam shook her head. "No, I'm not playing this. It's..."

"Unprofessional?" Jennifer laughed. "Come on. It's not like we're gonna go spread this around Atlantis." She glanced over at Rodney. He had that look on his face. "Oh no, you are not!"

"No, no, of course not. But if Ronon just happens to find out..."

"Oh, no," Jennifer pushed off the table and chased after Rodney.

"Woah, woah, woah." Sam broke it up.

"Well, if you want to keep us off of each other, answer the question." Jennifer suggested. Another pause. "It'd keep us quiet," she put on a pleading face and nudged Sam.

"McKay or Sheppard?" Sam asked.

"That was the question." Jennifer prodded.

Sam stood, silent.

"Oh, don't torture me like this." Rodney started. "Just say Sheppard and get it over with! I know I wouldn't be your choice."

"Well, actually McKay, I was gonna say you."

Rodney's face was the perfect picture of ultimate surprise. "Uh...really?"

Jennifer smiled. Yupp, the perfect couple. Rodney and Sam just stared silently at each other.

"Oh, get over here McKay." Sam said impatiently, motioning over. Rodney walked over carefully.

"Oh geez, you're just gonna tell me this is all a joke and then punch me for suggesting that you and I...well, you know, 'cause I mean, it's not like, well, I mean –"

Sam cut him off mid-sentence, putting her hands behind his head. She pulled him over towards her, her lips locking with his.

Jennifer stayed over in the corner, smiling. "The start of something beautiful..." she said, shaking her head.

As Sam and Rodney parted, he seemed to be blushing." Wow," was all he said at first. "Heh. You're a really good kisser."

Sam tried to hide her smile as she turned back to the half-knotted rope. "Shut up McKay."
